There is no direct train from Singapore to Perlis. Transfer to KL-Ipoh-Butterworth-Hat Yai train at KL Sentral, heading towards North. KTM offers daily train services linking Alor Setar and other towns along the North-South rail link from Kuala Lumpur to Hat Yai, Thailand. From Butterworth (Tel: 04-323 7962 / 331 2796) to Bangkok, there is an express train that passes through Alor Setar and Padang Besar in Perlis. From Alor Setar Station, take a taxi to Kuala Kedah Ferry Terminal and from there take a ferry across to Langkawi Island. |

By Driving |

Take the North-South Expressway that connects Kuala Lumpur and Bukit Kayu Hitam (490km) and Alor Setar (450km). The drive to Alor Setar would take approximately 5 hours. |

From Singapore, on the North-South Expressway, you will pass through from E2 towards Kuala Lumpur and E1 towards Kedah. |

When you reach traveling on Kuala Lumpur – Jalan Sungai (Sg) Besi, take a different lane heading towards Kuala Lumpur-Jalan Istana / Jalan Damansara and going onto Jalan Duta. You will reach a toll. Head for North E1 on the Jalan Duta-Sungai Buloh Expressway. |

On the North-South Expressway, head towards Kedah and exit through toll no. 178 for Alor Setar. Drive towards Jalan Langgar and then turn right towards Jalan Pekan Melayu where most of the places of interest are located. |
