Historical & Heritage
War Memorial. Beautifully landscaped, this is Malaysia’s largest war cemetery place. It is a memorial for the 3,900 Allied soldiers who lost their lives during World War II. A section is also dedicated to the Indian soldiers of the Punjab Regiment. Remembrance Day is a day when a memorial service is held every year on the Sunday closest to November 11th.
Tanjung Kubong Tunnel. This is the site of a productive coal mining industry during its time, which started in 1847 and ended in 1912. There are many tunnels and deep wells that run through it.
The Chimney. Standing at 106 feet high, The Chimney is Labuan’s most famous landmark erected in the 1800s. The purpose of this chimney remains a mystery but a recent archaeological research found no indication that it served as a chimney.
Surrender Point. Situated next to Peach Park, Surrender Point was built in remembrance of the surrender of the Japanese Army to the Australian 9th Division on September 9, 1945. The surrender led to the end of World War II in Borneo.
Flora & Fauna
Labuan Bird Park. Located near Tanjung Kubong Tunnel, the bird park is home to a diverse range of tropical birds from around the region like the hornbill, kingfishers, shamas, mynas, herons, ostriches and peacocks.

Peace Park. This beautifully landscaped park, also at Kampung Layang-Layangan was built as a remembrance to the dread of war. The focal point of the place is a huge man-made mound with a headstrong message against the history of confrontations and bloody battles.
